20 Weeks.

This week has been an exciting one!

Sunday morning I had my first taste of coffee since I've been pregnant! That SMELL. OH MY WORD! I just had to. It definitely didn't disappoint either! Mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm! I had less than 8 ounces of coffee, and as a result, I felt our baby KICK for the first (distinct) time! I've been feeling flutters but haven't committed to those being the first time....this time was undeniably him! It was amazing! Tyler was able to feel him kicking around on Tuesday night for the first time! That was super special. He was kicking around while we were making up commentary for the muted WWF wrestling match that was on TV...yeah, he's got some weird parents...

Not only has that been awesome, but we also got snow for the first time since I've been in South Carolina! With that, we left school early Tuesday, were out Wednesday, and had a 2 hour delay today! Praise the Lord :) We got a TON accomplished yesterday around the house and in getting the nursery ready. I can't wait to share pictures!

Today we had our 20 week appointment equipped with the "serious" ultrasound. She checked EVERYTHING about the baby to make sure he's developing like he's supposed to. She gave him an A+ and said his heartbeat is PERFECT! We got some great pictures to share! He's just beautiful. I almost cried this time!
I think he's telling us "Peace Out!" in the first shot :) Look at that sweet face! I just want to cover him with kisses!

I was so relieved leaving the doctor's office. I worry way too much about most things in life...the Lord's really teaching me lessons in trusting Him through this whole experience. It's been amazing. He reminded me this afternoon of His SWEET tenderness through Isaiah 40:11.

"He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young."

How tender is that? Amazing. His love for us astounds me. Whether this baby is perfectly healthy or not, God WILL be exalted! Thankful for His tender mercies. He is good ALL the time. I'm so very thankful for such a great report this morning!

At 20 weeks:

Size: Banana (one of my favorite words to type! Try it!)  About 6.5 inches, 10.6 ounces.

Major happenings: We painted the nursery, hung curtains, built a dresser, AND FELT HIM KICK for the first time! Amazing! Also, at 20 weeks, he has working taste buds and is gulping down several ounces of amniotic fluid...I bet that's super tasty. Especially since the tech told us today that amniotic fluid is baby pee....okie dokie then.

Sleep: Great! Hip pain is setting in, but once I'm asleep, I'm GONE!

Miss Anything: Coffee! I realized how much I love it when I drank a little bit. Trying to stay away from TOO MUCH caffeine!

Food Cravings: Well...someone mentioned Oreos and milk on Facebook the other day, so I may have eaten one third of the entire container of Oreos last night. Tasty! Don't even try to tell me what's in an Oreo...

Bellybutton in or out: IN. woop woop!

Wedding Rings on or off: On. I dread the day I can't wear them!

Gender: BOY. Definitely a BOY after that ultrasound.

Looking forward to: Looking for our rocking chair or glider rocker on Saturday!

Progression.

I've been terrible about keeping an update going, but now that I have a belly, get ready! There's something to be excited to show! I'm sure I'll be wanting the awkward belly to go away soon enough, but right now it's loads of fun :) So much excitement!

Here are some picture updates:

13 weeks.

 14 weeks.

17 weeks.

18 weeks.

19 weeks.

Don't worry...at 19 weeks I haven't let myself go. I had, in fact, just finished walking with my dear friend Shannon! :) We aren't letting this baby weight defeat me!

As of MLK day, I was 19 weeks. We're heading straight toward 20! That's MID PREGNANCY! I cannot believe it!

At 19 weeks: (I stole all of these from Amy Grubbs- shoutout girl!) :) These take me back to all those surveys I answered on Myspace & Xanga in middle school. Who's you best friend? What's your favorite pair of shoes? What color are your bowel movements?...ok, too far. Nobody REALLY cared THAT much.

Size: Mango. About 6.0 inches, 8.5 ounces.

Major happenings: We bought NURSERY PAINT! Time to get this shin dig started! I will be posting some pictures!

Sleep: Decent. I go to the bathroom every two seconds in the middle of the night...I haven't slept through the night in weeks.

Miss Anything: Not having to go to the bathroom so often. And being able to hold my...umm...urine. That's a story for another time.

Food Cravings: Seriously, nothing. Tyler's having all the cravings. for real! diva. ;)

Bellybutton in or out: IN. yessssssss!

Wedding Rings on or off: on. I'm so glad!

Gender: BOY. I have no clue what to do with one of those. HERE WE GO!

Looking forward to: Our ultrasound on the 30th! They will make sure he's developing like he should be. Plus, I'm anxious to see my baby boy again!

This baby has a wonderful family he's being born into. Sadly, yesterday we lost one of them. My Spooky Grandpa was such a wonderful man. I'm so thankful to know he's resting in the arms of Jesus! He was such a hard working, family man. I can't wait to tell our boy about him.
