On our way onto the island, we got stuck in traffic for over an hour! We were parked, cars off. We saw 6 dogs outside of their cars playing, going to the bathroom, taking walks, etc. It was craziness!
This was our first day on the beach. I wasn't sure how Liam would do seeing as he HATES grass. Grass and sand seems pretty similar itchy-wise. But he would sit in the sand for an hour playing with his toys. This is the kid who never sits still! It was a miracle! He's a beach bum baby! LOVE!
Playing with his friends!
Aunt Lesley rocking the aunt role!
This is my dearest friend Shannon and her baby Henry! I just love them!
Our little family
Emma and Liam would wait for the waves to hit them as they sat in their chairs. They got a kick out of it!
Chillin with his favorite guy! Both of them :)
We also had a surprise party to celebrate Shannon's birthday which was August 22nd. She was majorly surprised! Burgers, presents, cake, party hats, balloons! Too fun!
These are the sweet college roomies! They are precious women of God! I'm so thankful to call them friends!
All the ladies of the trip
All the guys! They LOVE to play. All of them! We're so glad they have each other!
The crew. We're LARGE! And I'm sure we'll keep getting LARGER!
I love these crazies of mine!
My boy :)
Once we got home, it was time to RELAX. For a couple of days we needed a vacation from our vacation. So daddy went to work while Liam and I relaxed. Then daddy came home, and we all relaxed! Liam is cuddling daddy while watching Curious George. This is precious because the child doesn't sit still...ever! This lasted all of five minutes. It was precious!
He was clean and in his NEW big boy 18 month jammies!!!! He loves ninja turtles!
We started our new bedtime routine after our beach trip. We read a Bible story, read "Night-Night Forest Friends", say our prayers, and give hugs and kisses! It's wonderfully sweet. Except for the fact that Liam buzzes around his room like a crazy man and doesn't sit still the whole time. sigh. At least we are beginning the habit! Eventually he will join mommy and daddy :)
Shannon and I decided to step out of our comfort zones this week and go to a local MOPS meeting. I'm most definitely a natural introvert so I was way nervous to go last year by myself. Now that Shannon is staying home with Henry, we decided to give it a try! We really enjoyed it!
I love this ribbon we received. This is an excerpt from my blog post for this THURSDAY over at GLOW. Click here to read it once it's posted...on Thursday.
"At a MOPS meeting last week I was reminded that comparing ourselves to everyone else is a dangerous, meaningless task. There's no reason we can't work hard to bring God glory in the tasks He's given us and quit comparing ourselves to the next woman! So, all the women at the meeting received a ribbon that read "World's Okayest Mom." It didn’t read "World's Best Mom" because that's way too much pressure!!! I laughed at the ribbon, but I loved it! The title "World's Best Mom" is one I could never receive. But "World's Okayest Mom…" that seems much more manageable. Just like every one of us, I long to be the best mom, wife, friend, woman in the world, but when that's my goal in life, my focus is on pleasing man, not the Lord. My vision is very horizontal as I look to the thoughts and opinions of other people rather than having vertical vision of pleasing and glorifying God."
We made this adorable craft. You can rotate the words for the seasons. It's a cute decorative piece!
Afterward we went out to lunch with one of our favorite college gals! I've known Sam since Tyler came to South Carolina five years ago. She's amaaaaazing! And you'll recognize her from the photo shoot featured a couple of post's ago. You can see some of those pictures here.
After lunch Sam gave us the grand tour of her ADORABLE dorm room! I'm jealous! I miss college!
I updated my Liam journal this week. I keep track of all the unique, quirky, hilarious, and wonderful things about Liam that I really want to remember. I think this is a fantastic idea for any mom. I have a terrible memory, so I will continue to love this journal. The days are busy and going by SO FAST! I want to remember them!
This weekend Tyler, Liam, and I loaded up the car and headed to good ole' BYBEE, Tennessee! Bybee is "the sticks." For real. But it is in East Tennessee, which is our FAVORITE! It's seriously GORGEOUS! We stayed with Tyler's aunt- Aunt Paula.
We attended a marriage conference at Arrowhead Church in Morristown. It was fantastic! We're excited to see the Lord working in our marriage!
This is Lesley and Jamison. Jamison is the college minister at Arrowhead (the church hosting the conference). He and Tyler have known each other since they were LITTLE. They have many memories together! It was so cool to attend with him and his wife Lesley! We really enjoyed spending time with them!
I also ran into MINDY! She's a great friend from college. It was so wonderfully random! :)
Meanwhile, this guy hung out at Aunt Paula's house with her, Uncle Don, and Grammie. He loved it!
He also got to hang with Tabs. He likes Tabs!
He LOVES Grammie! We're so grateful she drove to meet us in Bybee to hang with him while we were at the conference. We love you!!!
Tyler can sometimes be a "smack talker" and he's a very passionate Kentucky fan! On Saturday, South Carolina played Kentucky, and Tyler and one of our student's Baylon have been "smack talking" to one another about the game. Once we got home, Baylon had put SC Gamecock signs all around our house! We laughed and laughed about this! Especially since Kentucky won. hee hee hee! :)
Today we ate lunch at our local mexican restaurant after church. Martin is one of our sixth graders. He kept throwing his head back to laugh, and Liam would copy him. It was cracking me up! Martin loves our boy so well!
These are the days, my friends! Thank you for stopping by!
